We are pleased to announce our October Featured Blogger as Fatima Hachem El Hamoui, blogger behind The Positive Muslimah.
- Please do a small introduction about yourself.
My name is Fatima Hachem El Hamoui (aka The Positive Muslimah) and I’m the writer of the Diaries of The Positive Muslimah blog. I’m a Lebanese/Canadian, coffee-loving, web-developing and web-designing, blogging Muslimah. I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2010 with high distinction and my Master in Business Administration in Management in 2013 with high distinction as well, Alhamdulillah. I have a full time web developing job, with house wife duties after work and on the weekends. So, basically my time is full, but I still manage to write for my blog because I love to share my experience, thoughts, and writings with other Muslimahs. If I have some free time, I like to read, write, program software applications, design websites, manage events, solve crossword puzzles and brainteasers, and do some volunteer work.
- What is your blog about?
My love to inspire Muslimahs all over the world is the main reason for me to write my blog. Hence, it’s all about inspiration, motivation, and having a positive attitude toward life. It deals with a wide variety of issues that interest different tastes, including inspiration, life style, self-development, parenting, spirituality, productivity, and more.
- When and why did you start blogging? Did anyone in particular inspire you to start blogging?
I officially started to blog in December 2014. There are 3 things that inspired me to start my website: my love to inspire Muslimahs, my passion for web developing and designing, and my love for writing as a way to express my thoughts and feelings.
Let’s start with my love to inspire Muslimahs. I love to inspire Muslimahs and I used to do it all the time with my sisters, cousins, and friends. My heart feels warm when I know someone was inspired by what I said or did and decide to do the same to improve themselves.
Second is my passion for development and design. Being a Computer Science graduate, I had a great passion for web developing and designing, so I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to design my own website and show my talent and skills in hope that I’d open my own online web design business in shaa Allah.
Lastly, I always loved to write and express myself. I used to do that first on a notebook. I wrote the different thoughts that I had using a pen and paper; the traditional way. But then I thought it would be nice to keep a record of them and type them into documents on my computer and that’s what I did. It was only recently that I thought I’d be able to reach out to other Muslimahs by posting what I write online.
Therefore, you can say that I combined the purposes of inspiring Muslimahs, designing a website, and writing into the idea of my website.
I always had the passion but I always doubted myself and thought I could never have the time to commit to it. But then I came across TheMuslimahMommy.com and I got inspired by her will and spirit. So, I thought “If she can do it masha’Allah, so can I in shaa Allah”.
It’s been 9 months now and I’m very grateful to Allah (swt) that He gave me the ability to do it, Alhamdulillah.
- What do you hope to gain from blogging?
I hope I can reach out to more and more sisters around the world and be able to keep inspiring and motivating them. I want to be able to be there for them, listen to what they have to say, shed light on what they’re concerned about, and give them advice that will keep them positive. I also hope I can gain more experience in web designing, as I’m a web designer and developer and I design my own blog, so I can open my own online business in shaa Allah.
- Where do you hope to see your blog in a few years?
I would love to see my blog grow even more and continue to inspire, motivate and positively impact Muslimahs’ lives all over the world. I want my blog to be a means by which I can do good deeds for the sake of Allah (swt) in shaa Allah. So, I pray that Allah (swt) grants me the ability to leave a positive fingerprint in this world through this blog.
- Do you have any goals for your blog this year?
ThePositiveMuslimah.com is a website for Muslimahs all over the world. I’ve designed the website to be as convenient as possible and organized it in an accessible way that every Muslimah will find appropriate in shaa Allah. My goal is to provide Muslimahs’ with the ability to find answers to many, if not all, of their questions by diversifying my topics to include a wider range of tastes. In addition to that, I intend to expand my resource directory by adding more websites and blogs that Muslimahs will find beneficial. I also aim at getting them to reach out to me by interacting with me and sending me their feedback, advice, questions, requests, and anything they’d like to tell me about as I’m willing to respond to them as soon as I can and deliver them what they need, want, and expect from a positive Muslimah. There are so many aspects of a Muslimah’s life that I try to present, and I hope I can touch these situations in the most gentle way possible.
- Have you had any opportunities arise as a result of blogging?
Absolutely! I had the opportunity of being part of an amazing blogging community, at MuslimahBloggers.com, that provided me with great exposure and introduced me to wonderful sisters who have shown me a lot of support. I couldn’t have done it without them. I was also able to gain a lot of confidence and experience in the blogging world that made it easier for me along the way. But most importantly, my blog gave me an escape from all the pressure and stress I go through in work and life in general.

There are so many amazing posts out there written by lovely bloggers, masha’Allah. However, my favorite 3 are:
10 Easy Tips to Getting Fit Quick by Me Muslima (http://memuslima.com/10easytipstogettingfitquick/) because I’m constantly looking for ways to stay fit and found this post very useful.

- Any tips for anyone who may be thinking of starting blogging?
The best way to share your passion about something is to keep record of it by expressing it in written words. And what other way to do that than by starting a blog to show it to the world? That’s what I did. So, my advice to any sister who has a passion and would love to share it with others through a blog is to give it her all. Make it your personal project and strive to continue growing it. Let your passion be an inspiration to others and never give up on what you love. You’ll have your ups and downs for sure, but stay confident and positive that it all shall pass in shaa Allah. Start small and make your way up with your efforts, determination, and a lot of Duaa’s. A very practical tip that I also advise others to carry out is being part of a community, as it helps a lot in lifting your spirit, sharing your work, and encouraging you to go on.
