We are pleased to announce Autumn, from It’s Autumn’s Life as our August Featured Blogger.
What is your blog about?
It’s Autumn’s Life is a lifestyle blog that follows along with my life, an American Muslim in the midwest. The topics vary, but I don’t limit myself on what I can blog about! My main interests are travel, food, and education since these consume my life and are my main passions. I like sharing my life with everyone and hopefully normalizing and removing some of the fear of Muslims in the west.
When and why did you start blogging? Did anyone in particular inspire you to start blogging?
I started blogging in 2012, in the sense that I made a simple free WordPress design and randomly published a few posts. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it then, and abandoned it for about a year while I figured that out. After that period, I moved to Japan and started regularly posting my blog updates from there to follow my travels and keep those memories alive. Since then, I haven’t stopped!
What do you hope to gain from blogging?
I love blogging. It’s a creative outlet for me, and I really enjoy the process of writing up a post, creating beautiful pictures and helping others with my experiences. It’s like talking to an old friend! I also really love the community that forms around you. I’ve met so many lovely people since I started blogging and I really enjoy contributing to the blogging world too. Blogging kind of gives me a peace of mind of sorts… I get to connect with people while sharing my interests and passions.
Where do you hope to see your blog in a few years?
I’ve been doing a lot of hard work and investing in It’s Autumn’s Life these past few months. I love blogging, but a lot of people don’t realize how much hard work goes into making a really good quality blog that provides a great user experience and gives something to the reader that is of value. I’m hoping to see a much larger following, more page views and even better writing/pictures from my end. I want people to visit my site and feel like I’m a really cool person that they would love to keep in contact with! Most of my followers are actually not Muslim at this time, so I would love to see more Muslim women visiting my blog, connecting and collaborating and sharing as a community.
Do you have any goals for your blog this year?
I’m really pushing myself to post at least once a week and beef up my social media presence, in particular pinterest and instagram.
Have you had any opportunities arise as a result of blogging?
Definitely! I’ve connected with so many people online (including the ladies of Muslimah Bloggers!) and have had the wonderful opportunity of working with brands to bring my voice and enthusiasm to readers of my blog. I really enjoy those collaborations and they help me put more back into It’s Autumn’s Life. I attended a blogger’s conference a few months ago, and it was an eye-opening experience for me that changed my strategies in how I blog and reach readers dramatically.
